What are the Odds in New Hampshire?
ROUGHLY 60% OF THE POPULATION IS DRINKING ONCE A
MONTH
In the New Hampshire area, along with many other
states, there is a new "gadget" that condemned alcoholics are
using, or are forced to use, in order to deter them from drinking.
Its acronym is SCRAM, and it is an ankle bracelet that monitors
alcohol consumption. Noel K. Gallagher, of the Portland Press Herald,
explains how it works.
"SCRAM… takes a reading once
an hour by ‘inhaling' a sample of air just above the wearer's
skin and checks via infrared beam for any obstruction. Once a day, the
hourly data is downloaded via modem and analyzed. Any positive reading
triggers an alert… The wearer's parole officer or court
administrators have access to the password-protected information."
Basically, if the person drinks, then the parole officer knows that
they drank, and the alcoholic receives due punishment.
This
device is sure to bring about a less alcoholic state in New Hampshire,
which will be a big victory for this state with deplorable alcoholic
statistics.
ALMOST 60% OF NEW HAMPSHIRE CITIZENS USED
ALCOHOL IN THE PAST MONTH.
In addition to being well
above the national average, this percentage is one of the highest in the
nation.
Let's put this in perspective so it completely hits
home.
In your church group, with 40-50 members, statistics
prove that just about 24-30 members drank alcohol in the past month.
When your son goes to spend the night at a friend's house, most
likely one of the parents of his friends have drank in the past month.
Naturally, the different age groups have different percentages, but
old or young, roughly 60% of the population in New Hampshire is drinking
once a month. Those could be the people your son or daughter are acquainted
with?
Another stat may shed some further light on this matter:
JUST ABOUT 24% PERFORMED BINGE DRINKING IN THE PAST
MONTH.
Binge drinking is defined as drinking excessive
amounts of alcohol in one outing, usually to obtain a drunken state.
This translates 10-14 people in your church group and 1 out of 4
parents that have done so in the past month.

Drug Detox and Drug Rehab for Methadone is Also Needed in New Hampshire
Prescription drugs are also becoming a major problem in New Hampshire - especially methadone. In fact, the number of deaths from methadone overdoses has risen 400% since 2002.
The reason for this sudden rise is that doctors started prescribing methadone wafers for pain instead of OxyContin. The controversy caused by OxyContin addiction and dependency made methadone the new prescription painkiller of choice and methadone addiction and dependency are rapidly spreading across New Hampshire, and the entire country.
Getting off opiate prescription painkillers can be very painful, and methadone is probably the roughest withdrawal. Medically supervised prescription drug detox is highly recommended for methadone dependency or addiction.
Drug Rehab Referral can help you find a medical prescription drug detox for help with methadone or any prescription drug addiction or dependency.
