What Drug Problems are The Bronx Drug Rehab Centers Working With?
The Bronx has always had serious drug problems, but it's been getting worse since the economy started crashing.
Not only is the stress leading to more people drinking and taking drugs, they are also looking for cheaper ways to get high - and that sometimes involves taking very dangerous drugs, and taking risks that people would not normally take.
For example:
- Some people who used to smoke marijuana have switched to crack cocaine - it doesn't cost less, but the ‘high' lasts longer.
- Some people who used to use crack are now taking heroin - again, more ‘high' for the buck. But, at the same time, people who can get crack more cheaply than heroin are switching from heroin to crack.
- Some people who used to use heroin have substituted it for a prescription drug called Xanax which is used to anxiety. In the Bronx, a tablet of Xanax costs $2, compared to $10 for heroin.
- Because people aren't able to get their normal drugs, they are experiencing more withdrawal symptoms. To less those symptoms, they're taking methadone, which is as addictive as heroin and is much harder to quit taking.
- One of the major situations causing these problems is that even drug dealers are having trouble with not having enough money. So, they insist on people buying higher quantities of drugs at a time. Because people don't have the money for those higher quantities, they're turning to other drugs - drugs that are not as pure, that are more addictive.
- Not being experienced with these other drugs, they are also likely to take more of them and overdose - which could kill them.
- As a result of all of this, and the depression that it causes, more people are committing suicide.
- The fact that there are fewer jobs available is also causing more people to turn to drug dealing to support their habit.
All in all, it's a very messy scene.
If you have a problem with drug addiction, or there is one in your family, it is very important to do something about it now.

Are Kids in The Bronx Also Taking Drugs?
More than you would probably imagine: In fact, one in three kids in school have tried cocaine, Ecstasy, marijuana, inhalants, methamphetamine or heroin at least once.

They may have intended to just ‘experiment' with these drugs. Statistics show that nearly 40% of 12th graders don't think taking heroin once is risky. But one in four people who try heroin once continue to take it and become a heroin addict.
Also, one in four of the people who go to prison for drug offenses have been using heroin.
But heroin is far from the only drugs kids take.
If your child is involved in drugs, The Bronx drug rehab
facilities can help them, too.

Can The Bronx Drug Rehab Centers Help
Me With Prescription Drug Addiction?
Prescription drug addiction has become so common that most facilities have had people coming to them for treatment.
Most people come because of Vicodin or OxyContin addiction, or addiction to or dependency on benzodiazepines like Valium or Xanax.
These drugs are very addictive and very dangerous - even to stop taking. That's why doctors tell you not to try to stop taking them on your own.
