Drug Rehab Needed for the Women of Anchorage More than Ever
Anchorage is the largest city in Alaska, comprised of just over a
quarter million people, making it around two fifths of the total population
of the state. Of that, half reside in the metropolitan area. Even being
such a small part of the total population of the US, Anchorage still has
drug and alcohol problems. Alcohol is to blame for 47% of all assault cases
in 2002, including sexual assault. It is near impossible for anyone to be
comfortable around someone abusing drugs or alcohol in the Anchorage area.
With these types of numbers the need for effective drug and alcohol rehab
programs is needed more than ever.
Drug test results, done by
arrestees in Anchorage, show that female adults test positive for
crack/cocaine more than any other drug. The effects of cocaine on the human
body, while not physically addictive, take control of the users mind.
Judgment and rationalization cease in the thought process when under the
influence giving the user a false sense of security. Anchorage has cocaine
readily available in the urban areas making the youth very vulnerable to
the clutches of this powerful drug.
Females from anchorage test
positive for methamphetamines, crack cocaine, powder cocaine, and heroin
twice as much as men did in 2002 . The only drug that males tested positive
more than women is marijuana. The numbers don't lie. The violent
offenders in Anchorage test positive for drug use 73% of the time with
woman, and 64% of the time in men (2002). These numbers will keep rising
unless people take initiative and start to do something about it. More drug
rehab programs for the women of Anchorage would be a good start.
Getting help is not something that is impossible to do in Anchorage. The
more aware people are of the options they have the more likely they are to
get the help they need. You or your loved one(s) do not have to live in the
trap of the vicious cycle that drugs create for a person. Call or visit drugrehabreferral to find out your
options for getting help.
